Our house is perched on a bluff directly overlooking the Aegean Sea with a panoramic view of the neighboring Cycladic islands of Samos, Fourni, Patmos and Amorgos. The sunrise from our porch and veranda is magnificent. The night sky is equally as spectacular. The house is located along the southeastern coast of Ikaria (Eastern Aegean) in the small village of Lefkada. The property is private and spacious with its own secluded beach for swimming and snorkeling (equipment provided). We are a 15 minute, easy walk to the main seaport and island capitol, Agios Kirikos, which offers shopping, supplies, dining and nightlife, as well as travel connections, car rentals, internet services, and hospital 24-hour emergency services. The town's many outdoor taverns make for great people watching and conversing with the friendly and outgoing locals. Best of all, we are a 5 minute walk to Ikaria's still pristine natural hot springs situated on the seacoast. Best hot tub ever and right on the beach! Recently featured on CNN's Blue Zone series on aging, this amazing gift of nature has long been known for it's beneficial curative properties for various physical ailments. Great for stress reduction too. This, along with the Ikarian diet and other health benefits unique to the island are thought to explain the extraordinary longevity of the Ikarian population. For more information, the Blue Zones documentary is available on the internet. The home and spacious patios were totally renovated in 2009. The house itself is a 900 square foot, white washed masonry structure that combines antique charm with modern conveniences including internet access. We have a lovely open kitchen/dining living space with all the amenities to make cooking and entertaining fun and efficient. The house has terracotta tile flooring throughout and all new windows along with two French doors that open directly to a large veranda overlooking the Aegean with a view of neighboring islands. Outdoor furniture is provided for sunbathing and outdoor dining. A perfect island retreat. |
