MESSAKTI BEACH
Located on the North side of Ikaria in the Gialiskari resort
area, Messakti Beach is blessed with pure and natural golden sand. Two small
rivers intersect the beach with small freshwater lagoons, and the church of
Gialiskariis is visable in the distance jutting out into the sea on a small
island. On the beach there are umbrellas and chairs for hire and a several
waterfront cantinas serving refreshments and light meals. Informal volleyball
games are also played in the afternoons and body surfing atop the waves is
usually possible. Located directly atop the beach is the Messakti
Village Hotel-Studios, and within 1.5km are several other fine hotels/pensions including: the Cavos Bay
Hotel & Studios, Erofili Beach Hotel, Atsachas Rooms/Apt, Ikaros Star Hotel, and Pension Stella.
There are also a variety of fine restaurants such as The Palm, cafes, and clubs
located on the main road near the beach.
